New year, new hope

New year again...

Cleared the house until feeling like to puke ... wth... look like a slum in the 1960s. I have disposed off 2 pieces of wiping cloth and half a bottle of 'bang' just to clean the oily oily kitchen. No need to mention about other areas. Yucks!!!!!!!!! I admit that sometimes I can be a bit fussy over sanitation, but this time itz not my fault, no one can stand it at all.

This is the first time I felt a bit sense of ownership of the house. Now only me and yf living inside, the rest of them flew back already. I can arrange everything whatever I wish to.

This is the season of celebration, as well as a season to get monophobia. I chose not to go back. So I should bear with the consequence.

O Lvl Result Released

Another nervous day for all those receiving O Level result. I wonder why I am also nervous now. Last year this moment I did not care so much about the result, I myself was not even in Singapore on the day result came out. I cared more about my admission to another school in another country than the result, but I DID felt my hand shaking as I received an international SMS from CY, telling me about my result. A breath-taking moment without much change in rate of respiration.

Now it is their turn, a few friends who are freed from sec school from today onwards.

Is it because this year is 2007, so almost all I knew till now got a D7 for English? :(
Surprises, disappointments ... The cycle has repeated itself.

Good luck to CY, QX, QX's brother, XZhen, Lv zi, Jie, FM, WQ and etc etc. A great welcome if you come to NP:)

Sanshou and Karate

(I am new to both, this is just my opinion)

Technically speaking, Sanshou is more powerful. There were contests between Sanshou and all the other martial arts, Sanshou is always the winner. Karate? No. Not even those champions, not even Putin's bodyguards. (If you want to watch one of these contests, I may show you the video). However, Karate is far more popular in the world. Why is it so?

Like a good present without a proper wrapping, Sanshou is illy-commercialized. Taking it as a profession doesn't seems to be promising. The peripheral businesses are not well developed, which means sponsors are limited. In the world today, what can run without money? Virtually nothing.

Sanshou does not have its own culture. Yeah, you may say it is purely Chinese, but where is the culture? The clothing is exactly the same as boxing. Opponents do not have to bow to each other, a touch on the glove will do. Sanshou does not require the students to follow any moral guidelines, rules. Should you bow to your 'sensei' and be obedient to him? Nonsense. They are more frequently called coach. For some amateurs, the culture/history of the sport is an important factor, not only skill levels. Sanshou has lost culturally to TKD and Karate.

No much effort is made to promote this sport. No personnels are promoting it to schools, organizations etc etc. Over the years S. Korea has been sending coaches aboard, making the learning less costly, as a result promoting TKD internationally has been made easier. We have not seen such efforts by Sanshou, or by China. If a tree wants to grow tall, its roots must be deep. TKD is popular in its homeland so that it can be popular in the rest of the world. Sanshou is not even popular in its homeland, how will it go far?

So, summarize all these reasons above and start thinking, what can Sanshou do? Renaming it "Sanshoudao"? Introducing rules, guidelines, uniforms, grading systems etc etc?? Setting up a headquarter in Beijing or wherever and branches out all over the world? Making it a compulsory P.E. subject like what Judo does in Japan? Getting big companies to sponsor the games? (Many question marks). All these sound applicable, but this will not be Sanshou already. "San" means free style, free of restrictions. Shall it be transformed into those highly disciplined martial arts in order to be well promoted? Or shall it insist on its own style and look for other solutions? This must be ambivalent for some Sanshou lovers. Either way, I am still lovin it.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Die....... My biophysics. My question 4 was a total blank, so as half of question 3. Question 1 and 2 was nonsense. I became a story teller again -- creating my own theory. Fainting @@.

Expected mark: 30/100.

My overall dunno... Getting about 50~60 marks all the way. This test accounts 20%. Like this will borderline fail liao. Sob...

Everybody looked like having constipation after the test, except a minority few la. Then met our dear CATS lecturer. Wanted to change the topic during lunch,
dun want to tallk about the damn test anymore. So I told Ahxin I was learning KRT.

Actually I wanted to learn Sanshou, but dunno where to learn. End up taking KRT. Initially planned to keep it confidential, aiyo,,, become everybody know liao. Wanna stuff a char siew pau in my mouth. White belt so malu,,, telling others for what? My Sanshou oso fake fake one, only learned for 2 months and haven't trained for one year. Joints all stiff liao. Haizz...

About the difference between Sanshou and KRT i got alot to say. So starting a new topic.

After watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory went to teach. Suddenly feel that the kid i teach look like Charlie. Haha, very cute.
